Presented by Joshua Fisher, PhD
Fisher will discuss his work that utilized geographic information systems to develop ecological profiles for regions around the world, which were then used as a framework to analyze and predict territory and governance conflicts. His findings indicate correlations between specific ecological characteristics (population and infrastructure growth or stagnation, modification of natural land cover, etc.) and the type of conflict likely to occur. The discussion will include ways in which this method of analysis is useful in conflict prevention initiatives from a variety of perspectives.
