Biography

Dr. Roland B. Wilson is at George Mason University’s Korea Songdo Campus teaching both conflict resolution and global studies courses. He received his PhD from the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, and his BA and MA in linguistics, Korean and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from Indiana State University.

Roland has worked and written on a myriad of subjects including Asia Pacific relations, foreign policy, public diplomacy, culture, and conflict issues. He also lived in East Asia for more than 20 years and has a professional level ability in Korean.

His current research interests include: working to improve foreign policy, diplomacy and conflict issues related to Asia and the Middle East; helping to understand various historical and cultural issues in the greater Asia-Pacific Region; and working to build local capacity to peacefully mediate, transform and resolve historical, deep rooted and protracted conflicts at every level of society.

Recently, Roland has been collaborating on several projects in an effort to increase conflict resolution and peace initiatives and courses in Asia and has been an avid supporter of Asian and American student groups and exchanges. He is also a mediator with the World Mediation Organization. In his spare time, Roland enjoys playing sports and assisting those in need including veterans.
