The organizers of the DC Peace Olympics wish to bring together members of different faith groups to create a community of peace where people can think about peace, talk about peace and talk with peacemakers in the DC area about the work they do. We are inviting peacemakers in the DC area to join in on the event as participants as well. The day will include prayer, song, breaking of bread (in the form of a potluck meal) and a chance to talk with other members of the community about peace-related topics.
It is our hope that participants will leave with some new ideas or thoughts about peace and perhaps have found some opportunity to volunteer with a peacemaking group. This is one of the many ways we think we can honor Martin Luther King, Jr and his great contribution to a making the world a better place.
