The Law Library located in Hazel Hall on the Arlington Campus is also available for S-CAR students to use. The copy center is located in this library. in addition to copying and binding services, the copy center can print off and bind your e-reserves into a course pack for you.

Note:
Free transfer of books between campuses:
Books in the catalog that indicate another library campus can be delivered to a campus of your choice. To request a book log in to "Uborrow@Mason". (it is recommended that you open a new window to copy and past the information from the record).

Alternatively, use the WRLC Aladin catalog (see next) to avoid filling out lengthy forms.  Books and other materials  are usually transfered  within two - three business days.

The Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC- Aladin)

Through the Washington Reseach Library Consortium (WRLC),  S-CAR members can access all ten other libraries within the University consortium. Mason library cards are accepted at all consortium libraries and all books and materials can be delivered to and/or returned to any consortium library location.

To request books online, browse the WRLC- Aladin catalog  and then click on the red "request" tab on the top right of each record. After you have logged in once, you only need to fill in your G# and indicate which university campus you would like to pick up your books.  Books and materials are usually delivered within 2- 3 business days. An email notification is usually sent informing you of the availabilty of your books for pick up.

Local Public Libraries

The S-CAR community also have access to the regional county public libraries.  Often containing good resources and videos, inter-library loans are also available through the individual counties. You will need to obtain a library card for the specific region you wish to take materials out, and return them to locations only within that county.

English as a Second Language Resources
There are two options for students to obtain ESL tutoring:

1) The Writing Center - A new special program for ESL writers has been established called  ESL Opt-In. It is a semester long contract where the student is matched with the same tutor at the same time every week for up to thirty (30) appointments in the semester.  Contact [email protected] for more information or to register.  This resource is currently available on the Arlington Campus.

2) INTO Mason - The Learning Resource Center (LRC)  offers free tutoring across all skills, with particular emphasis on writing (including structure, organization, grammar, etc.) and speaking (oral grammar, intonation, pronunciation, etc.). It is located in Rm. 1305 in the new Mason Global Center (formerly the Mason Inn and Conference Center) on the Fairfax campus.  The LRC is investigating the possiblity of establishing an Arlington office at this time.

Appointments can be made by going to the following site: https://intomason.mywconline.com.  Register to create an account and once logged in select either "Learning Resource Center" or "Writing Tutors" in the drop-down menu and select any of the times when tutors are free (white boxes).

Faculty can also refer a student for this service by completing this referal form

(Note: INTO Mason itself is a costly pre-university program-specific residency-based language program. The LRC is one resource that is simply located under their purview).
