The Middle East Policy Group is honored to have Prof. Bassam Haddad talk about the Syrian uprising in its sixth year anniversary.
"Over the past six years, the uprising in Syria has been transformed from a democratic protest against dictatorship to a regional and international proxy war with multiple attempts to redraw the political, and at times territorial, map of the region. This talk will address the causes, dynamics, and prospects for the Syrian uprising, with some focus on the implications of the regime’s recapture of the last metropolitan rebel stronghold in east Aleppo in December 2016.” -Prof. Haddad.
Background reading on Syria narratives by the speaker is available here.
Bassam Haddad is an Associate Professor at the Schar School for Policy and Government and Director of the Middle East and Islamic Studies Program at George Mason University.
