Database of Organizations in the field Conflict Analysis and Resolution
Interest in the field of peace, conflict analysis and resolution is rapidly growing and developing new and interesting tools that have a web presence. These websites provide field-specific information that may be accessible to a narrow or as board an audience as the need may arise. Online lists and databases make assessable useful information about academic and vocational studies from certificate to doctoral programs. This portal is an exciting new entry for the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University in that emerging arena.
The database provides information about the many academic programs, research projects, and other areas of scholarship and practitioner interests in the field. In addition, it provides data on academicians, researchers, and practitioners associated with these programs and projects. As a work in progress, it is an emerging sector-specific tool that lists, not only academic programs, but also those in professional associations, government and nongovernmental organizations throughout the world.
Today, the site provides information on nearly 500 entries. Each entry represents a record with fields that include each organization name, type, description, web address, principle contact, and additional personnel associated with the organization. Users may access each entry separately, where they will find a brief description of the selected organization along with data from each of the aforementioned fields. Alternatively, users may view the database in list format with each entry in alphabetical order. Thus, students, researchers, alumni, faculty, staff, and professionals across sectors can access the database for a variety of purposes as their specific interests may require.
Our vision is to provide a robust, self-perpetuating tool that is simultaneously updated as the S-CAR family and the broader field uses the site for communication, information, and research purposes. To that end, we welcome your input and feedback on how we might best meet our goal.
