Biography

Kevin Clements is the Foundation Chair of Peace and Conflict Studies and Director of the New Zealand National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies (NCPACS) at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand, and past Secretary General of the International Peace Research Association.Prior to taking up this position, Professor Clements was the Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies and Foundation Director of the Australian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Previously, he served as Secretary General of International Alert, London, UK, Lynch Professor and Director of Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (ICAR) at George Mason University, USA. He was also Head of the Peace Research Centre, Australian National University, Canberra Australia. Professor Clements' career has been a combination of academic analysis and practice in the areas of development and peacebuilding and conflict transformation. He has been a regular consultant to a variety of non-governmental, governmental and intergovernmental organisations on disarmament, arms control, conflict resolution, development and regional security issues. Professor Clements has written or edited 7 books and over 160 chapters /articles on conflict transformation, peacebuilding, preventive diplomacy and development with a specific focus on the Asia Pacific region. http://www.otago.ac.nz/ncpacs/staff/otago014259.html
