Biography

Nhina is a PhD student, a research associate, and a teaching assistant at George Mason University's School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (S-CAR) in Virginia, the United States. She also serves as a non-resident research fellow at Asian Resource Foundation's International Institute of Peace Studies (IIPS) in Bangkok, Thailand.  

Nhina's research interests include: "non-traditional" (or alternative) security studies; conflict resolution and peace-building; and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). 

Nhina's active research projects include: global and regional responses to Mekong's "dam racing"; and the role of business in conflict, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding. 

In 2013, Nhina established S-CAR's Southeast Asia initiative. This initiative aims to promote in-depth dialogue among think-tank analysts, university intellectuals, fieldwokers, artists, and media specialists on the interplay of global and Southest Asia's conflict resolution "norms".  

In summer 2012, Nhina served as a research intern with the Stimson Center's Southeast Asia program. At Stimson, Nhina generated weekly reports and gave briefings on: the Mekong hydropower politics, and South China Sea maritime disputes and their resolutions.

Prior to coming to the United States, Nhina worked as a research analyst of Asia's national and international affairs at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies in Singapore. She previously served as an English and American studies instructor at National University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho
