The Oxford International Encyclopedia of Peace edited by Nigel J. Young.  The four volume set, released in February 2010, features over 850 entries spanning the range of philosophical, historical, theoretical and other issues related to peace studies and conflict resolution.  Contributions to the Encyclopedia come from leading scholars and practitioners.  In addition, George Mason University and the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution are represented by featured pieces from faculty and associated instructors Daniel Druckman, Ho-Won Jeong, Lester Kurtz, Joseph Montville, Agnieszka Paczynska, Dean Pruitt, Dennis Sandole, Wanda Wigfall-Williams, and Saira Yamin.

Sarah Watstein in the August 2010 edition of The Booklist gave The Oxford International Encyclopedia of Peace a star review.  Watstein writes, the Encyclopedia “fills a critical niche at a critical time” and “is a scholarly, but accessible, comprehensive reference work that quickly distinguishes itself among related reference works in the social, life, and physical sciences.”  In short, it is a great source of information for anyone, especially students, looking to supplement their research and knowledge about peace and conflict.

The Oxford International Encyclopedia of Peace is available for use at the Arlington Campus Library and is located at call number JZ5533 .O95 2010.  Visit the George Mason University Libraries homepage at http://library.gmu.edu/.
