Professor Marc Gopin of George Mason University discusses the Palestinian bid for statehood, and the political ramifications for both sides. Gopin says it is a political win for Abbas and raised his profile considerably, and despite the rhetoric, Israel will not withhold funds from the Palestinian Authority; because this ultimately could lead to greater insecurity in the West Bank which in turn would be bad for Israel.
