Once again, we have come across some information about efforts to establish peace zones, weapons free zones or peace corridors in various African countries suffering from various types of intra-state conflicts - for example in Sudan and South Sudan, in Somalia, and Nigeria - but details about these efforts is difficult to discover.
We are starting to work on an entry for the local peace zone in Wajir in north eastern Kenya and hope to have a full entry for this initiative by the end of summer 2014, after which we will turn ur attention to the peace corridors that allow passage for pastoralists and their herds across the new border between Sudan and South Sudan.
Again, if anyone has any hard information about these peace zones - or any others in African countries - we would be pleased to learn about them. Contact [email protected] or [email protected].
