This workshop will explore diverse ways in which field research and applied practice in peacebuilding can complement each other. It will start with a brief overview of the facilitator’s recent peacebuilding activities in Asia, the Middle East, and sub-Saharan Africa. It will then explore a set of thematic questions inspired by the real-world experiences of the facilitator and the participants. These questions include: How does field research support applied practice?; In what ways can applied practice stimulate innovative research and theory-building?; How can peacebuilders carry out their practice in such a way as to advance research and theory-building purposefully?
